Healthcare is a Human Right. Sign this petition to let your voice be heard and to demand that the New York Health Act be passed.
Everyone living in New York deserves to have guaranteed health coverage. We must move past the days where people could not get proper medical care due to the high costs of treatments and medications. We must move past the times where people ended up dying due to the lack of care or settled with the bare minimum to not have such a high cost on their medical bill.
Recently, myself and others lobbied in Albany to tell the State Senators to pass the New York Health Act. We were able to push the NYS Assembly into passing the New York Health Act for the 4th year in a row. Now, let us make sure that the Senate gets the clue.
Join me in my grassroots movement to get the New York Health Act fully supported and passed in Albany. This is lifesaving for millions, including you and your family.
Healthcare is a Human Right.

State Assembly Candidate Anthony Beckford is one of the pillars of his community. Anthony Beckford is the son of Jamaican immigrants. Being a Marine Corps Veteran, Activist, Community Advocate, Freedom Fighter in the Black Lives Matter movement and the Leader of the Brooklyn Sector of CopWatch Patrol Unit, he has the discipline, consistency, passion and grit that it will take to protect the residents within the 42nd State Assembly District, from greedy developers, Trump's bigotry, Abusive Landlords, Police Violence, Gun Violence and more. And let's not forget the solutions to rebuild back the community and to bring back the resources and opportunities that were taken away. The community can be represented fully and be protected and empowered through his planned legislation proposals and his consistency in the fight for Social Justice.
Anthony Beckford started as an activist at the early age of 12 while he was a student at Winthrop Junior High School. His first challenge was the rezoning (segregation) of School District 18. Long story short, he helped to defeat the rezoning plan by delivering one speech to a room of parents, the school board chancellor and elected officials. After graduating from Winthrop Junior High School, Anthony Beckford went on to Midwood High School and graduated in the top 33 percentile and was the youngest club promoter in New York City. He then went on to Monroe College in New Rochelle for Business Administration, where he continued as a party promoter, elevated to a celebrity booking agent and still maintained his activism and advocacy. He is currently enrolled as a Junior at Southern New Hampshire University with a major in Psychology - Mental Health. He is a member of the Green Party, True Freedom Political Club, Democratic Socialists, Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn, Flatbush Tenant Coalition, Our Revolution, Green Party Black Caucus, etc.
Anthony Beckford chose to run for State Assembly because he saw the needs of his community. He feels he can do more and provide more accountability. He saw the families being separated and displaced. He saw the lack of opportunities for the youth and the lack of care for the elderly. He saw that no true affordable housing plan was in place for the people and believes that Immigration protections should be permanent, not temporary. He has seem the attacks against the working class and low income.
Anthony Beckford has selflessly stood up to protect the communities from police brutality and gun violence. He is a true leader and innovator. He continues to battle gun violence, poverty, racial disparities, gentrification, climate changes, police brutality, tenant harassment, displacements, developers, the school to prison pipeline, racism, classism, environmental violations and much, much more.
Anthony Beckford is the only candidate besides City Councilwoman Inez Barron and Assemblyman Charles Barron, known to truly stand with the families who have lost loved ones to police violence. As a single father, Anthony Beckford knows about the needs of parents for their children, and has used his advocacy to help many parents and their children who have been targeted and neglected within the system. Being one of the Frontline activists of the Black Lives Matter movement, Mr. Beckford has been consistent in his fight for justice. He has stands side by side with various organizations that fight for tenants’ rights, worker’s rights, women’s rights, immigration rights, lgbtq rights and more.
Honor, Courage and Commitment are Core Values that Mr. Beckford not only carries over from the Marine Corps, but are Core Values that he was taught by his mother and that he has instilled in his everyday life.
